Biography

Matthew Kluber is an Iowa native and is currently a Professor in the Art and Art History department of Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa. At Grinnell, Mr. Kluber teaches print media, digital media, drawing and hybrid media.

Kluber holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has taught at the University of Iowa and at Iowa State University and was Artist-in-Residence at the Des Moines Art Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Kluber has exhibited paintings/projections, films, and drawings at galleries and museums including:  the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, China; FOCUS09/Art Basel, Switzerland; The Painting Center, New York; David Richard Gallery, Santa Fe; Haw Contemporary, Kansas City;  the Portland Museum of Art, Oregon; The Micro Museum, Brooklyn; the Austin Museum of Art, Texas; the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Michigan; the Des Moines Art Center; the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Omaha; and the Thoma Art Foundation, Chicago.

In 2019 we presented the solo exhibition "Friday I'm in Love" with Mr. Kluber including three major projection paintings, and new smaller scale paintings and works on paper.

Currently Mr. Kluber is working with 3D printers creating open structure sculptural drawings the artist calls Drawing Structures.  For some of these the artist experiments with digital projections onto them.  See additional Drawing Structures on the artist's website HERE
